Human Appeal Deputy CEO joins UK Parliamentary Briefing on Pakistan Emergency in collaboration with UNICEF

The UK All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Pakistan hosted a high-level panel in collaboration with UNICEF on the theme of Pakistan Floods: Emergency Response and Prospect for Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation.

The meeting’s talks covered Pakistan floods response & recovery with Pakistani diaspora-British MPs, Peers, Civil Society, Humanitarian actors, business and professional community.

Human Appeal, a 31-year-old British charity with 16 years’ experience in humanitarian operations in Pakistan, was represented at the panel by its Deputy CEO, Owais Khan. The panel was also attended by key figures including Yasmin Qureshi MP, Jon Sparkes CEO UNICEF UK, Abdullah A. Fadil UNICEF Representative Pakistan, Dan Poulter MP, Rehman Chishti MP and Jehangir Malik OBE.

As one of the first UK NGOs to respond to the devastating floods in Pakistan, we at Human Appeal can bear testimony to the massive scale of the emergency which is truly beyond comprehension. There continues to be an urgent need for more humanitarian intervention to rehabilitate and rebuild the lives of the millions impacted,” commented Owais Khan Deputy CEO, Human Appeal.

The gathering as designed to help strengthen related sector connections and collaborative work. Such cooperation will support and spur on humanitarian actors to share and learn from collective experiences, and to hear insights on the ongoing recovery needs for Pakistan.
